Australia have announced their playing XI for the World Test Championship Final against South Africa, set to begin June 11 at Lord’s. Captain Pat Cummins confirmed the lineup on Tuesday, revealing a bold decision to move Marnus Labuschagne up the order to open with veteran Usman Khawaja.
Labuschagne to Open
In a significant move, Labuschagne will shift from his usual No.3 spot to open the innings. Cummins explained the decision, noting Labuschagne’s strong record in England and experience at Lord’s. He added that opening can be beneficial early on, before the Dukes ball starts swinging.
Hazlewood In, Boland Out
Josh Hazlewood has been picked over Scott Boland in the pace attack. Cummins acknowledged Boland’s solid performances but described the selection as a case of “bad luck.” He reassured that Boland remains in the long-term plans and will have plenty of chances in future Tests.

Green Returns, Webster Retained
All-rounder Cameron Green returns to the side after back surgery, slotting in at No.3. Beau Webster retains his place and offers both medium pace and spin options, adding depth to the bowling unit.
Konstas Misses Out
Teenager Sam Konstas was not included in the final XI. Cummins praised the 19-year-old’s potential and said the experience around the team would still benefit him. “He’s got a long career ahead,” Cummins noted.
