Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has hailed Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos as a “historic victory,” commending the Pakistan Armed Forces for what he called “avenging the 1971 war” with India. During a visit to Pasrur Garrison on May 14, the premier praised the bravery and strategic excellence of the troops involved.
Visit to Frontline Garrison
The prime minister was joined by Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Babar Sidhu, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and Defence Minister Khawaja Asif. He paid tribute to the soldiers’ courage, noting that Pakistan did not lose a single inch of territory despite facing intense attacks.
Direct Message to India
In a pointed address to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sharif accused India of sponsoring terrorism in Pakistan. He cited the Samjhauta Express attack and unrest in Balochistan, linking it to Indian interference.
He warned India not to tamper with the Indus Waters Treaty, saying, “If you stop our water, remember this: water and blood will not flow together.”

No Peace Without Dialogue
Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace but stressed that no talks could happen without addressing Kashmir. “We want peace, but not at the cost of dignity,” he said, making it clear that any future trade or dialogue must be part of a broader resolution, including Kashmir.
Military Excellence and Planning
The prime minister credited General Munir’s leadership and the Air Force’s technological strength as key factors in Pakistan’s military success. He highlighted the downing of Indian jets and interception of drones as proof of operational readiness.
International Praise and Future Outlook
Shehbaz stated that friendly countries are studying the operation, and military institutions worldwide will analyze it for years. He also called on India to engage in sincere diplomacy or face the consequences of continued hostility.
He concluded by reiterating Pakistan’s strength: “We are ready for peace, but we are more than ready for war.”
