The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the decision on the advice of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, citing the deteriorating security situation and growing concerns for player safety.

Teams Disband, Foreign Players Begin Departure

Following the announcement, teams have begun disbanding. Arrangements are underway to send foreign players home immediately. The PCB emphasized its respect for the mental well-being of players and acknowledged the concerns expressed by their families.

Earlier, the PCB had planned to shift the tournament to the UAE, hoping to resume play within a week. Some overseas and Pakistani players with UAE visas were preparing to depart Friday night, while others awaited visa approval. However, that plan has now been shelved.

League Suspension Follows IPL Shutdown

This simultaneous halt of both South Asian leagues highlights the seriousness of the regional instability and its impact on global cricket.

Emergency Meeting Led to Final Call

The PCB convened an emergency meeting in Islamabad on Thursday. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi met with foreign players, most of whom preferred relocating the remaining matches to the UAE. Despite this, the board ultimately opted for a full postponement in light of the fast-changing security environment.

Acknowledgement of Support

In its official statement, the PCB thanked franchises, players, sponsors, broadcasters, and partners for their efforts in keeping the league running smoothly until now. The board said cricket is a unifying force, but in times of national tension, it must respectfully pause.

With no resumption date in sight, fans will now have to wait for clarity on whether the remaining eight PSL 2025 matches will ever be played. The PCB has yet to confirm any future plans.
