Outrage is spreading across the globe after Israeli media reports revealed that Israeli troops were allegedly ordered to “deliberately shoot” starving Palestinians attempting to reach humanitarian aid in Gaza. The report has intensified accusations of war crimes, as Gaza’s Government Media Office called it further proof of Israel’s systematic targeting of civilians.
“These are not isolated incidents — this is a policy of terror against an entire population already pushed to the brink of starvation,” the office said in a strongly worded statement on Friday.
The shocking revelation comes as Israeli military operations continue across the Gaza Strip, with no let-up in airstrikes and ground assaults. Human rights organizations and legal experts say such orders — if verified — represent clear violations of international humanitarian law.
More Than 60 Killed in Ongoing Attacks
Even as global pressure mounts for a ceasefire, Israeli forces have continued their deadly campaign in Gaza. According to the latest updates from Gaza’s health officials, at least 60 Palestinians were killed across the territory on Friday alone.
Residential neighborhoods, aid distribution points, and even makeshift shelters housing displaced families have come under fire in recent days. Videos shared on social media show scenes of chaos and desperation, with wounded civilians being carried through rubble-strewn streets.
In central Gaza, several witnesses said Israeli forces opened fire near an aid truck, killing multiple people who had lined up in hopes of receiving flour and water. “We came for food and left carrying bodies,” said one survivor.
The United Nations and several international agencies have condemned the targeting of aid seekers and called for immediate investigations into the use of live fire against unarmed civilians.
Trump Says Ceasefire ‘Possible Within a Week’
Despite the grim reality on the ground, former US President Donald Trump has claimed that a ceasefire in Gaza could be reached “within the next week.” Speaking to reporters on Friday, Trump said behind-the-scenes diplomatic efforts are ongoing and “both sides understand this cannot go on forever.”
However, neither Israel nor Hamas has confirmed any near-term progress toward a truce. In fact, Israeli officials have signaled that military operations will continue until their objectives are “fully met,” including the destruction of Hamas infrastructure and leadership.
Analysts say Trump’s optimism may be premature, especially given the growing anger in Gaza and the wider Arab world over reports of Israeli forces firing on civilians seeking food.
Meanwhile, international pressure is building. Protests erupted in several world capitals on Friday evening, with demonstrators demanding an end to the siege on Gaza and accountability for what they call crimes against humanity.
The situation remains dire. Food and medical supplies are running out, Gaza’s hospitals are collapsing, and hundreds of thousands remain displaced. For many Palestinians, talk of a ceasefire means little unless it brings real protection — and justice — for those who have suffered the most.
