Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan used the OIC meeting platform in Istanbul to deliver a firm message. He strongly condemned Israel’s airstrikes on Iran and reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s enduring support for Palestine. His remarks came during the opening session of the 51st Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Saturday.
Support for Palestine Remains Firm
Prince Faisal emphasized the Kingdom’s longstanding commitment to the Palestinian cause. He reiterated Saudi Arabia’s push for an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. He also highlighted the Kingdom’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to end the war in Gaza and reduce the humanitarian crisis.

Condemnation of Israeli Aggression
Addressing the recent Israeli strikes on Iran, Prince Faisal described them as a blatant violation of international law and Iranian sovereignty. He warned that such military actions threaten not just the targeted nation but also regional peace and security.
Call for Diplomacy and Peace
He urged all sides to de-escalate and return to negotiations. Stressing the dangers of continued conflict, he called for dialogue between Iran and the international community to prevent further instability.
OIC Leadership Transition
The Istanbul meeting marked Turkiye’s assumption of the OIC Council’s presidency. Prince Faisal congratulated Turkiye on taking over and thanked Cameroon for its previous contributions during its leadership term.
Support for Yemen Peace Process
Shifting focus to Yemen, Prince Faisal reiterated Saudi Arabia’s support for a political resolution. He underlined the importance of restoring peace, stability, and security through comprehensive dialogue and national unity.
Unity in the Islamic World
Throughout his speech, Prince Faisal stressed the need for unified Arab and Islamic positions on critical issues. He noted that only collective action can bring lasting peace to the region, especially amid growing challenges in Gaza, Iran, and Yemen.
