In a strong show of solidarity, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers united in Istanbul on Saturday to denounce Israeli aggression in both Gaza and Iran. The session called for an immediate ceasefire and urged diplomatic solutions to de-escalate the worsening regional crisis.
Call for Peace and Dialogue
OIC Chairperson Hissein Brahim Taha opened the meeting with a clear message. He condemned the ongoing conflict triggered since June 13 and emphasized that only dialogue could end hostilities between Iran and Israel. He also urged member states to implement existing OIC resolutions against Israel.
Key Regional Figures Join Forces
Representatives from over 40 OIC member states participated. Among them were Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar. The two diplomats were seen seated together, symbolizing unity amid growing tensions.
Türkiye formally assumed the OIC chairmanship for the next three years, signaling its intent to play a larger role in mediating regional peace.

Türkiye’s Strong Stance
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan gave a passionate address. He warned that Muslim nations remain vulnerable if they stay divided. He condemned Israeli attacks on both Gaza and Iran, saying, “This is no longer just about Gaza or Iran—this is about stopping Israel.”
Fidan called for Muslim solidarity and stressed the urgency of resolving the Palestinian issue through a two-state solution. He also praised the recent ceasefire between Pakistan and India and highlighted the Kashmir issue as vital for lasting South Asian peace.
Iran Blames U.S. for Escalation
Before the session, Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi told reporters that Israel deliberately attacked Iran just two days ahead of scheduled peace talks. He accused the U.S. of being complicit in the aggression and warned that American involvement threatens broader regional stability.
Araghchi reaffirmed Iran’s right to self-defense and cautioned that diplomatic opportunities could vanish if hostilities persist.
