Amid rising tensions in the Middle East, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has warned that the Iran-Israel conflict could spiral into a global war. Speaking in Brussels on Saturday, he urged the international community to intervene immediately and broker a ceasefire to prevent what he called a potential “World War III.”
Call for Global Ceasefire
Addressing reporters alongside Senator Sherry Rehman and a Pakistani parliamentary delegation, Bilawal expressed deep concern about regional instability. “We don’t want war on our borders,” he said, condemning recent military strikes in neighboring countries. He emphasized that Pakistan advocates peace with all its neighbors, including Afghanistan, Iran, and India.
Condemning Diplomatic Failures
Bilawal criticized the international community for allowing armed conflicts to become the default resolution method. “It’s far too easy to start a war now. Dialogue and diplomacy have been replaced by bombs and bullets,” he said. He warned that younger generations would be left to rebuild what wars destroy.

Middle East Needs Restraint
He urged world powers to act swiftly. “We cannot afford another petrol war. It helps no one,” Bilawal stated, referencing the Iran-Israel hostilities and ongoing occupation in Palestine. He called for an urgent ceasefire and de-escalation in the region.
India-Pakistan Tensions Also a Threat
Shifting focus to South Asia, Bilawal stressed the importance of resolving the Kashmir dispute and water-related issues through dialogue. “Military confrontation is not the answer. In conclusion Dialogue is the only way forward,” he said, pressing world powers to push India back to the negotiating table.
Water Dispute and IIOJK
Bilawal slammed India for suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, labeling it a “water war between two nuclear powers.” He also condemned India’s refusal to allow impartial investigations into incidents in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). He insisted the UN must prioritize Kashmir and resolve the matter in line with its resolutions.
However Flanked by fellow lawmakers, Bilawal concluded by reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and its rejection of New Delhi’s aggressive stance.
