Chairing a high-level review meeting in Islamabad, the prime minister emphasized that credible external validation would help build public trust in the Federal Board of Revenue’s transformation. He expressed satisfaction over the success of the Faceless Customs Assessment System, calling it a step toward a more efficient and corruption-free tax structure.

The meeting also reviewed efforts to expand digital taxation across the country. Officials discussed developing taxpayer-friendly platforms, especially in Urdu and other regional languages. The goal is to make tax filing accessible for all citizens, regardless of their technical skills or language barriers.

Economic Stability Linked to Reforms

Prime Minister Sharif reaffirmed his government’s commitment to economic stability through long-term institutional reform. He pointed to recent positive economic indicators as evidence that the current strategy is delivering results. These include improvements in revenue collection and investor confidence.

Broad Participation in Policy Review

The session included input from key government officials, including Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, the FBR chairman, and senior members of the finance and revenue departments. Their presence signaled strong political and administrative backing for the reform agenda.

By anchoring reforms in transparency, digital innovation, and global best practices, the government aims to modernize the FBR and position Pakistan for sustained economic resilience.
