To ease the rush of cash transactions during Eid ul Adha, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has launched a countrywide campaign promoting digital cattle payments. The “Go Cashless” initiative, which began on May 19, 2025, aims to digitize buying and selling in 54 designated cattle markets nationwide.
Boosting Digital Transactions
The campaign will run through June 6—or until Eid night. It supports SBP’s long-term goal of promoting digital financial inclusion across Pakistan. This effort follows last year’s success in encouraging market participants to adopt digital tools for Eid-related transactions.
The SBP, in collaboration with the banking sector, wants to simplify transactions such as purchasing animals, paying for feed, water, and even settling parking charges within the markets—all through digital channels.
Higher Transaction Limits
To further support this digital shift, SBP has raised transaction limits for specific accounts during the Eid period, from May 19 to June 15, 2025:
-
Branchless Banking Level-1 Accounts
-
Asaan and Asaan Digital Accounts
-
Merchant Accounts
These accounts now face no daily transaction limits, and monthly limits have been raised to Rs5 million. The central bank believes this flexibility will make it easier for both buyers and sellers to handle large purchases smoothly.

Encouraging Public Participation
SBP urges the public to embrace digital payments during the Eid ul Adha season. By reducing reliance on physical cash, the campaign aims to increase transaction security, speed, and transparency.
The move is expected to benefit livestock vendors, customers, and service providers within cattle markets. It also supports broader economic goals, including a more inclusive and tech-driven financial system.
Through the “Go Cashless” campaign, SBP hopes to transform traditional cattle markets into modern, efficient hubs for digital commerce—one Eid at a time.
