The controversy began after the Indian Army’s official X account shared a video alleging Pakistan’s use of nuclear-capable Shaheen missiles during the recent military conflict. The post was later deleted without clarification. By that time, the narrative had already spread widely through Indian media.
FO spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan condemned the claims, stating they were part of a broader propaganda campaign. “The silence of the Indian Army following the deletion of its post raises serious questions about the intent behind such disinformation,” he said.

Clarifying Pakistan’s Response
Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos was launched by Pakistan in response to India’s unprovoked strikes following the Pahalgam attack in IIOJK, which killed 26 people. India blamed Pakistan without evidence, triggering a dangerous military confrontation.
Pakistan’s retaliatory strikes targeted Indian military assets and downed six Indian jets, including three Rafales, as well as dozens of drones. The conflict ended after 87 hours with a ceasefire brokered by the United States.
In its May 12 statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) detailed the weaponry used by Pakistan. This included Fatah series precision missiles, long-range loitering munitions, and accurate artillery. The Shaheen missile was not part of this arsenal.
Spreading Misinformation
The FO spokesperson emphasized that Pakistan’s disclosures were public and verifiable. He urged media outlets to rely on factual reports rather than speculative narratives. “India is using false claims to distract from its failures during Operation Sindoor and from Pakistan’s operational achievements,” he said.
