Share the latest news updates

Arsenal are now leading the chase to sign Viktor Gyokeres, Sporting Lisbon’s prolific Swedish striker, in a deal expected to be worth around £60 million. The Gunners have accelerated talks as they aim to secure a clinical forward ahead of the summer window.

Arsenal Pushes Forward

Sources reveal Arsenal have made early contact with Sporting, aiming to wrap up negotiations swiftly and avoid a bidding war. Gyokeres, 26, has scored an impressive 95 goals in just 100 appearances for the Portuguese side. His lethal finishing and physical presence have made him a top priority for Mikel Arteta.

The forward has a release clause set at €70 million (£60m), and Arsenal appear willing to meet the valuation. If signed, Gyokeres is expected to earn over £200,000 per week, placing him among the club’s highest-paid players.

Manchester United Still Lurking

Manchester United are also keeping tabs on the striker, but currently trail Arsenal in terms of both intent and progress. While the Red Devils have shown interest, Arsenal’s proactive approach and Champions League qualification could give them the edge.

Other Targets in Sight

Gyokeres is one of three forwards Arsenal are seriously considering. They are also tracking Alexander Isak of Newcastle and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko. However, Isak’s availability hinges on Newcastle missing out on Champions League qualification. Meanwhile, Sesko’s rising release clause may complicate any potential move.

Urgency at the Emirates

After two underwhelming transfer windows, Arsenal face mounting internal pressure to deliver early and impactful signings. Strengthening the attack is viewed as a critical step in challenging for next season’s Premier League title.

The north London club want to complete key signings before pre-season. By acting early, they aim to avoid market inflation and ensure new additions are fully integrated into Arteta’s tactical setup well before the new campaign begins.
