Indian news channels have come under fire for spreading fake news following unprovoked missile strikes on Pakistan. Major Indian anchors went into a frenzy, delivering dramatic and false reports. This behavior has severely damaged the credibility of Indian media.

Outlandish Claims on Live TV

Mainstream channels made bizarre claims. Some reported the destruction of Karachi port. Others claimed Islamabad was leveled. None of these reports were true. Yet, they aired live, without verification. The media created a war-like panic across the country.

Even Indian celebrities and influencers could not stay silent. They took to social media to call out the misinformation.

Sonakshi Sinha Calls Media a “Joke”

Bollywood actor Sonakshi Sinha criticised the news coverage. She called the TV visuals and sound effects a “joke.” In her Instagram story, she wrote, “Just do your job, report facts as they are. Stop sensationalising WAR and creating panic among people… for God’s sake.”

She advised viewers to stop watching these channels. Instead, she urged people to find and follow reliable news sources.

Tejasswi Prakash Hits Back at “Godi Media”

TV actress Tejasswi Prakash also joined the chorus. She posted a clip on X showing how anchors interrupted reporters to insert fake news. The clip exposed a clear attempt to push a political narrative.

Prakash said, “This is exactly why I don’t trust this Godi Media anymore. It’s not journalism — it’s scripted propaganda.” She warned that blind nationalism is not patriotism. “Question what you are being shown,” she added.

Influencers Join the Rebuttal

Popular YouTuber Dhruv Rathee, with over 29 million subscribers, also reacted. He posted a clip of retired Major Gaurav Arya spreading misinformation. “Block these frauds from your Twitter accounts,” Rathee said. He also advised people to stop watching such channels and inform their family members.

Another influencer, Nitish Rajput, who has nearly 7 million followers, mocked the media. “If the news media tells me it is raining, I will look for my sunglasses,” he wrote, sarcastically pointing out their lack of credibility.

Escalation Behind the Hysteria

The media storm began after India launched a deadly cross-border attack on May 7. At least 31 Pakistani civilians lost their lives. In response, Pakistan downed five Indian fighter jets, including three Rafales. Dozens of Indian drones were also shot down.

Despite this, India continues to send drones into Pakistani territory. Pakistan’s military has destroyed nearly 80 UAVs, including Israeli-made Heron drones.

Propaganda Over Journalism

As tensions grow, Indian mainstream media appears to be fuelling nationalism rather than reporting facts. Critics, including celebrities and social media influencers, are now demanding accountability. They accuse the media of acting as a mouthpiece for the ruling BJP government, instead of serving the public with the truth.

The growing chorus against “Godi Media” shows a deepening crisis of trust in India’s press.
