Xbox Handheld by Microsoft and Asus Leaks

Share the latest news updates

The long-rumored Xbox handheld device has surfaced online in leaked images, revealing Microsoft’s collaboration with Asus on a gaming console codenamed “Project Kennan.” The device appears to be a modified version of the upcoming Asus ROG Ally 2, now branded with Xbox’s signature design cues and hardware customizations.

Xbox Branding Confirmed

Photos show two versions of the ROG Ally 2—one in white under the Asus brand, and a sleek black version featuring a dedicated Xbox button. This button, engraved with the Xbox logo, sits above the D-pad, confirming earlier reports that Microsoft was co-developing a custom handheld gaming console with Asus.

Design Tweaks and Improvements

Both versions retain a similar look to the original ROG Ally but introduce some significant ergonomic changes. The updated design features thicker, molded controller grips to enhance comfort during extended play. The black Xbox version also includes dual USB-C ports at the top, supporting better connectivity options for gamers.

Specs Unveiled

Leaked regulatory documents, including an FCC listing and Indonesian certification, offer a glimpse into the hardware. The Xbox edition of the device will ship with an 8-core, 36W AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor, giving it a clear performance edge. In contrast, the standard white version will use a 4-core, 20W chip. Both models will sport a 7-inch, 120Hz LCD display, matching the display specs of the original ROG Ally.

Launch Timeline and Expectations

Given that certification is already underway, the official release seems imminent. Asus often unveils new hardware at Computex, which begins on May 20. That timing conveniently follows Microsoft’s Build conference on May 19, suggesting a coordinated launch could be on the cards.
