GTA 6 Delayed Again: Fans Must Wait Until May 2026

The GTA 6 delay has struck a chord with fans, as Rockstar Games officially pushed the release to May 2026. Originally scheduled for release this autumn, the highly anticipated game will now take longer to hit PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. Rockstar says it needs additional time to meet the high-quality standards fans expect.
Rockstar’s Perfectionism Strikes Again
In a statement, Rockstar acknowledged the “interest and excitement” surrounding the game, calling it “humbling.” However, they emphasized the importance of delivering a product worthy of the wait. The company has a history of delaying major releases—such as Red Dead Redemption 2—to ensure perfection.
The 12-year gap since the release of GTA 5 has already tested fans’ patience. Yet, Rockstar’s reputation for innovation and detailed storytelling has kept the hype alive.

A Glimpse into GTA 6
Fans got their first look at GTA 6 in a trailer released in December 2023, which surpassed 100 million views. The teaser showcased a Florida-inspired setting called Leonida and introduced two main characters. But aside from that, Rockstar has kept details under wraps.
Frustration in the Gaming Community
Not all fans are willing to wait quietly. Dienne Kawende, a 27-year-old content creator known as HotGamerDude, expressed his frustration. “I’m absolutely furious,” he said. “There’s fire flowing through my body right now.”
Dienne had saved up to buy a PlayStation 5 specifically for GTA 6. With the delay and rising console prices, he feels his efforts are in vain. “I might not even have time to play GTA 6 when it comes out,” he joked, reflecting on how much life has changed since GTA 5 was released when he was still a teenager.
Looking Ahead
While disappointment runs deep, fans are still hopeful that Rockstar’s commitment to quality will deliver another groundbreaking title. For now, patience remains the only option for gamers worldwide
