PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari issued a stern warning to India over its suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, calling the move an attack on Pakistan’s water rights. Addressing a charged rally in Mirpurkhas, Bilawal accused Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi of attempting to weaponize water and declared that Pakistan would resist the action with full force.

“We Will Not Let the Indus Be Choked”

Calling Modi “the butcher of Gujarat,” Bilawal said India’s actions aimed to strangle Pakistan’s lifeline, the Indus River. “Either water will flow, or their blood will,” he declared, vowing strong resistance against what he described as an open aggression on Pakistan’s water security.

He noted that although the treaty came under pressure during his tenure as foreign minister, Modi’s latest decision crossed a red line. He urged Indian citizens to recognize the gravity of the situation and stop Modi before it’s too late.

Modi’s Leadership Under Fire

Bilawal labeled the Indian Prime Minister as an extremist and not a democrat. “India has lost its image as a peaceful neighbor,” he said, warning that Pakistan would expose Modi’s actions on international platforms. He also dared New Delhi to produce evidence if it accused Pakistan of involvement in the Pahalgam attack, asserting that Pakistan does not fear conflict if provoked.

Domestic Water Disputes

Turning his focus inward, Bilawal criticized rival politicians for supporting controversial canal projects launched during the caretaker government’s tenure. He accused them of celebrating schemes that threatened Sindh’s water rights instead of resisting them.

“When those projects were introduced, some political orphans clapped. They thought we’d sell Sindh’s rights like they did,” he said.

PPP’s Defensive Role

Despite lacking a majority, Bilawal said PPP effectively blocked these projects through the Council of Common Interests. “Our two members stood their ground and convinced others,” he said, praising Asif Ali Zardari’s leadership.

He asserted that the PPP protected Sindh’s water through democratic means. “The Indus still flows because people trust us—and because we never stop fighting for their rights.”
