Pakistan conducted large-scale military exercises near the Line of Control (LoC) on Thursday, signaling its preparedness amid growing tensions with India. The drills, marked by live-fire demonstrations and deployment of modern weaponry, aimed to deliver a clear message of deterrence.

Full-Scale Drills Display Strength

According to security sources, the exercises involved multiple army units showcasing high-level combat capabilities and coordination. Troops demonstrated live target strikes and operational maneuvers using advanced battlefield systems. These drills underscored the Pakistan Army’s readiness to counter any provocation.

Retaliatory Action Follows LoC Incident

The exercises came a day after Pakistani forces launched retaliatory strikes on an Indian checkpost. The response followed unprovoked small-arms fire from across the LoC in the Kiani and Mandal sectors. Officials confirmed that Pakistani troops destroyed the Chakputra post in Indian Illegally-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), effectively neutralizing the threat.

Rising Tensions After Pahalgam Attack

Tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors have spiked since the April 22 Pahalgam attack, which killed 26 tourists. India accused Pakistan of involvement without providing evidence. In response, Pakistan strongly denied the claims and offered to cooperate in a transparent investigation.

Diplomatic Fallout Escalates

The fallout led to a series of aggressive diplomatic and strategic moves. India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, cancelled all visas for Pakistanis, and shut down the Wagah-Attari border crossing. In retaliation, Pakistan expelled Indian diplomats, suspended visas for Indian nationals (except Sikh pilgrims), and threatened to pull out of the Simla Agreement.

Pakistan Reaffirms Defense Commitment

Military officials reiterated that Pakistan’s armed forces remain on high alert. They warned that any aggression will be met with a strong and immediate response. The army’s leadership emphasized that national sovereignty is non-negotiable and that Pakistan will continue to act decisively to protect its borders.

These exercises, timed with the current crisis, signal Pakistan’s intent to remain firm in the face of regional instability.
