A massive Gaza Solidarity March swept through Karachi on Sunday as the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) led thousands in condemning Israel’s aggression in Palestine and called out Pakistani leaders for their silence. With a countrywide strike planned for April 22, JI urged the government to move beyond rhetoric and take firm steps to support Palestinians.

March Draws Massive Crowd on Sharea Faisal

Led by JI chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, the march drew people from all walks of life. The event saw active participation from professional groups including lawyers, doctors, teachers, and traders, all pledging support to the Palestinian struggle.

Addressing the emotionally charged crowd, Hafiz Naeem criticized the Pakistani government for its inaction. “Karachi has once again proven it represents the voice of the entire Muslim world,” he declared. “Palestinians are being slaughtered. Over 70,000 have lost their lives — most of them women and children. Yet, our rulers offer only lip service.”

Political Silence Under Fire

Hafiz Naeem sharply criticized the mainstream political parties — Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) — for failing to stand up to the United States, a key supporter of Israel.

He accused party leaders of prioritizing their own interests over a humanitarian crisis. “You lobby in Washington for party gains, but you can’t speak a word for Gaza?” he asked. “You shake hands for political favors but remain silent as innocent lives are lost.”

He further challenged Pakistan’s ruling elite to end their “hypocrisy” and make real commitments toward the Palestinian cause, rather than hiding behind economic concerns when asked to act.

Nationwide Strike Announced

He stated that the move has the backing of Palestinian representatives and aims to demonstrate Pakistan’s solidarity in a meaningful way.

“Whether it’s a tweet, a video, a donation, or public protest — every action matters,” he said. However “Now is the time to unite and act.”

A Call for Global Unity

Urging Pakistan’s leadership to step up, Hafiz Naeem called for a collective Muslim response to halt the bloodshed in Gaza. He proposed that Pakistan take the initiative in bringing together like-minded nations to develop a united strategy against Israeli atrocities.

“The world cannot be governed by sheer force and silence in the face of injustice,” he asserted. “Our people demand action, not diplomacy without direction.”
