Share the latest news updates

A feasibility study for Parachinar Airport is in progress as a joint team from the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) and Pakistan International Airlines Corporation Limited (PIACL) conducted a detailed inspection of the facility. The study aims to determine the airport’s potential for commercial and humanitarian flight operations, aligning with the government’s efforts to improve air connectivity in remote regions.

Comprehensive Site Inspection

The eight-member Board of Officers (BOO), including six PAA officials and two from PIACL, carried out an in-depth evaluation of Parachinar Airport’s infrastructure. Led by Younas Lugman Qazi, Additional Director Operations at Islamabad International Airport (IIAP), the team inspected key facilities such as the terminal building, runway, fire garages, staff accommodations, and generator room.

The assessment focused on determining the airport’s ability to handle regular flights, emergency landings, and passenger services. Officials also reviewed operational challenges and necessary upgrades to ensure safety and efficiency.

Discussions with Local Authorities

Following the inspection, BOO members met with Deputy Commissioner Parachinar to discuss the possibility of resuming flights. The discussion covered logistical and administrative aspects, including regulatory approvals, security measures, and infrastructure enhancements.

The collaboration with local authorities is crucial in addressing challenges and ensuring that any proposed operations align with the region’s needs.

Feasibility Report to Guide Future Decisions

The findings from this assessment will be compiled into a comprehensive feasibility report. This document will outline the airport’s operational readiness and recommend necessary improvements. Based on this report, authorities will decide on potential flight operations, which could benefit both travelers and humanitarian missions.

Enhancing Air Connectivity in Pakistan

The Pakistan Airports Authority remains committed to expanding domestic air travel. The Parachinar Airport project is part of broader efforts to improve accessibility in remote areas, facilitate economic growth, and provide faster transportation for relief efforts.

The final decision on resuming flights will depend on the feasibility report’s recommendations and government approval. If successful, Parachinar Airport could soon become an essential hub for both commercial and humanitarian flights, strengthening regional connectivity.
