Pakistan Strongly Denounces Desecration of the Holy Quran in Denmark

Pakistan strongly denounced the desecration of the Holy Quran in Denmark. A statement was issued on Saturday from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

It strongly denounced the “senseless and extremely disrespectful conduct” performed by the same Islamophobe who did a similar crime in Sweden just a few days before.

“This recurrence of the heinous deed leaves little doubt in the minds of Muslims worldwide that freedom of expression is being flagrantly misused to propagate religious hate and incitement to violence,” the statement stated.

The spokeswoman questioned the legal system that allows Islamophobes to conceal and preach hatred with impunity.

It claimed that the world community cannot turn a blind eye to these hate mongers at a time when there is an increased need for interfaith harmony and mutual respect for peaceful coexistence.

Furthermore, it reaffirmed Pakistan’s view that freedom of speech comes with responsibilities, noting that it is the obligation of both national governments and the international community to prevent such racist and Islamophobic activities.

The official further stated that Pakistan’s concerns have been communicated to Danish authorities.

“We encourage them to be cognizant of the views of Pakistanis and Muslims worldwide, and to take action to avoid such cruel and Islamophobic activities,” it stated.

An anti-immigrant far-right lawmaker torched a copy of the holy book near the Turkish Embassy in Sweden last week.

A similar event occurred last week in the Netherlands, when a far-right Dutch politician desecrated a copy of the Holy Quran, pulling out and burning its pages.
