ISLAMABAD: The nation is commemorating Pakistan Day today with a pledge to safeguard the country’s growth, prosperity, and strong defence.
The day was marked, as it does every year, to remember the passing of the momentous Lahore Resolution on March 23, 1940, under which Muslims of the subcontinent established the agenda for a separate country.
The day began with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital and a 21-gun salute in the regional capitals.

Today, three wings of the armed services demonstrated their expertise and military power during the stunning and colourful Pakistan Day Military Parade on Parade Avenue in Islamabad.
The resolution day’s ceremony began with the fly past of fighter jets of Pakistan Air Force while Pakistan Navy led by Air Chief Zaheer Ahmad Babar. They presented salute to the chief guest President Dr. Arif Alvi.
Formations of fighter jets like J-10C, F-16, Mirage and P-3C took part in the fly past.
The Pakistan Day procession included distinguished visitors from the OIC-CFM, including Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
Contingents of the Pakistan Army, Navy, and Air Force, as well as Special Services Groups, Frontier Corps, Rangers, and Islamabad police, marched by the dais, saluting the President of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi
