Stranded Ship refloats after 7 weeks

Only until the faults listed are resolved may this ship depart Karachi

Karachi: The cargo ship that had been stranded on a Karachi beach for 48 days has finally begun to float on Tuesday.

The mission to recover the stranded cargo ship Hang Tong 77 from the port city’s shore has been successful, according to reports.

According to reports, tug vessels have assumed control of the ship, which is moving at a speed of three nautical miles.

The cargo ship detained by Pakistan govt, “will be taken to the harbour,” stated Commodore (retd) Obaidullah, a nautical expert. However, “only until the faults listed are resolved may this ship depart Karachi for any other destination.”

“Since there is no specific salvage firm in Pakistan, it took time for the trapped ship to be retrieved, according to Obaidullah, who added that three attempts to rescue the ship had previously been made.

He added Hang Tong 77 is being accompanied by two tugs, one of which is on standby while the other tows the cargo ship.
