What is Google’s Year in Search?
In an analysis of the over one trillion search requests we get each year, Google shows the Internet’s spirit of the times. We also provide many resources that offer insight into global, geographic, historical, and current search patterns, in addition to year-end searches, which illustrate the top trends of the year.

To classify individual users, Google Search methods will never be used because we rely on anonymized, aggregated counts of how often those search queries appear over time. At trends.google.com, these instruments are available year-round for you to experiment with, sample, and learn about.
