The first monsoon spell has finally arrived in Sindh, bringing much-needed rain and some chaos with it. According to Pakistan Weather Portal (PWP), a low-pressure system in the Arabian Sea is fueling intermittent rain, at times heavy, across the province — including Karachi.
Several areas of Karachi have already seen downpours accompanied by strong winds and occasional thunder. PWP reports that the current system is expected to lose strength within the next 24 to 36 hours, offering temporary relief to residents already dealing with urban flooding, traffic jams, and power outages.

Local authorities remain on alert as more showers are predicted in the short term, and citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and stay indoors during heavy rain periods.

Second Monsoon Spell Under Watch
While the first system moves out, PWP has also issued an early alert for a second monsoon spell. A new low-pressure system is developing near the Bay of Bengal and is currently being monitored. If it intensifies and moves westward, it could bring another round of rainfall to Sindh during the first week of July.
This early warning allows city administrations across southern Pakistan to prepare in advance — a step many argue is necessary given the city’s fragile drainage and infrastructure systems.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department is also expected to issue updates as the second system evolves. For now, Karachiites are urged to brace for more rain, while hoping for a break before round two begins.
