Gaza Death Toll Rises to 44 in a Single Day Amid Ongoing Israeli Attacks

Israeli attacks killed at least 44 Palestinians on Friday, making it one of the deadliest days in recent weeks, according to Gaza’s health authorities.

Israeli forces opened fire on a crowd of 25 civilians near Netzarim in central Gaza. The group had gathered near aid trucks to receive food. Children and elderly people were among the victims. Health officials said the attack followed a growing pattern of targeting civilians near aid points.

In Deir Al-Balah, an Israeli strike hit a home, killing 12 more civilians. Gaza medics confirmed seven additional deaths in separate attacks across the enclave. The total toll for the day reached 44, underlining the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

UNICEF Warns of Severe Water Shortage in Gaza

As airstrikes continue, another crisis is brewing — Gaza is running out of clean water.

On Friday, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) raised alarms. It reported that thousands of families now rely on contaminated or untreated water, risking deadly diseases. “Children are facing dehydration, disease, and malnutrition all at once,” a UNICEF spokesperson said.

Bombings have destroyed major parts of Gaza’s water infrastructure. Israel’s blockade has also cut off fuel, making it nearly impossible to run what little remains. Residents say they only get clean water once every 10 to 12 days — if they’re lucky.

Despite global outrage, Israel continues to block aid. The UN accuses Israeli authorities of systematically obstructing relief efforts.

Palestinian UN Envoy Urges Global Action

Riyad Mansour, Palestine’s ambassador to the United Nations, called for urgent international action. He marked 620 days of Israel’s war on Gaza by sending letters to the UN Secretary-General, the UN General Assembly President, and the Security Council.

In the letters, Mansour said Israeli strikes had killed 500 Palestinians while they were seeking aid. He blamed the US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, calling its operations controversial and ineffective.

He also condemned Israel’s continued blockade of UN aid missions. Mansour accused Israel of turning water and food into weapons of war.

He urged the world to demand an immediate ceasefire and allow unrestricted access to humanitarian aid. “This is no longer just a humanitarian emergency,” he wrote. “It’s a breach of international law. Accountability is overdue.”
