BEIJING – China has successfully evacuated more than 700 of its nationals from Israel and Iran as tensions between the two countries continue to escalate. The Chinese Foreign Ministry confirmed on Wednesday that these individuals were moved to “places of safety,” and added that efforts are ongoing to evacuate over 1,000 more.
The ministry emphasized that the safety of Chinese citizens remains a top priority. “The Foreign Ministry, along with embassies and consulates in the region, has acted swiftly to protect the lives and security of Chinese nationals amid the ongoing conflict,” the statement read.
No casualties among Chinese citizens have been reported thus far in the hostilities that have raised fears of a broader regional conflict.
Evacuation Measures Coordinated With Local Authorities
The evacuation operations were reportedly carried out in coordination with local authorities in both Iran and Israel, as well as through Chinese embassies on the ground. Charter flights, buses, and other transport methods were used to move citizens to safer areas, though exact routes and destinations were not disclosed for security reasons.

Chinese officials have also opened emergency hotlines and communication centers to assist their nationals stranded in conflict zones. “We are maintaining close contact with Chinese nationals in both countries and providing them with timely updates and instructions,” said a ministry spokesperson.
Rising Regional Tensions Prompt Urgent Action
The evacuation comes amid escalating tensions between Iran and Israel following a series of drone strikes, missile launches, and military warnings exchanged between the two sides. With fears of a broader war looming, several countries have begun relocating their citizens from high-risk areas.
Beijing, which maintains strong diplomatic and trade ties with both Tehran and Tel Aviv, has urged both sides to exercise restraint and return to dialogue. “China calls for an immediate de-escalation and peaceful resolution through diplomatic means,” the ministry reiterated in its statement.
China’s Global Times newspaper also reported that more than 1,000 citizens, including students, businesspeople, and tourists, are still awaiting evacuation amid logistical and safety challenges.
No Casualties Reported, Monitoring Continues
So far, no Chinese nationals have been harmed in the ongoing conflict, according to the Foreign Ministry. However, Chinese officials remain on high alert, closely monitoring the rapidly evolving situation and prepared to adjust plans as needed.
“Safety remains our guiding principle,” the ministry said. “We are committed to ensuring every Chinese citizen is accounted for and protected.”
As geopolitical tensions deepen across the Middle East, China’s swift evacuation reflects its broader strategy of safeguarding overseas citizens while playing a cautious diplomatic role in regional crises.
