Pakistanis are celebrating Eid ul Adha today with heartfelt devotion and traditional fervour, even as regional tensions linger in the backdrop. From early morning, mosques, Eidgahs, and open grounds across the country saw large gatherings of worshippers offering special Eid prayers.

Religious scholars reminded citizens of the enduring legacy of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and Prophet Ismail (AS), underscoring the importance of sacrifice, faith, and perseverance. Special prayers were made for the peace and prosperity of Pakistan, the Muslim world, and oppressed communities facing conflict and hardship.

After prayers, families began the Qurbani ritual, sacrificing animals to honor Prophet Ibrahim’s (AS) obedience to Allah. The distribution of meat among the poor and needy served as a powerful reminder of Eid’s message: compassion, sharing, and social justice.

Leaders Call for Unity and Reflection

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the nation and the Muslim Ummah on the blessed occasion. In his message, he highlighted that the real spirit of Eid ul Adha lies in selflessness. “The essence of sacrifice teaches us to place collective interests above personal gains,” he said.

He emphasized the need for national cohesion during trying times and stressed Pakistan’s support for the people of Palestine and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. “Our solidarity must extend beyond borders,” he added.

President Asif Ali Zardari echoed the sentiment, calling the celebration a moment to revive values of brotherhood and empathy. “This festival is not just a ritual, but a moral responsibility to help those in need,” he said. He urged citizens to promote social harmony, especially in these challenging times.

Tight Security

Authorities at federal and provincial levels have enforced tight security to safeguard Eid congregations, particularly in metropolitan areas. Law enforcement personnel remain deployed at key public locations, ensuring peaceful celebrations across the country.

To manage sanitation during the three-day festival, city administrations have activated special waste management teams. Their focus is on the swift and hygienic disposal of sacrificial remains. Citizens have been requested to cooperate and maintain cleanliness, reinforcing the shared values of discipline and civic responsibility.

Military Extends Eid Greetings

The leadership of Pakistan’s armed forces extended warm greetings to the people on this holy day. According to the ISPR, Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir and other top military figures offered prayers for national peace and prosperity.

Their joint message honored the sacrifices of Shuhada and reaffirmed the armed forces’ commitment to defend Pakistan’s sovereignty. “We stand united with our people,” the statement read. “May this occasion foster harmony and resilience.”

Media outlets across Pakistan are airing special Eid broadcasts, while newspapers have published supplements exploring the deeper spiritual meaning of Eid ul Adha in today’s complex geopolitical landscape.
