In a deadly escalation of the ongoing conflict, Israeli airstrikes killed at least 38 Palestinians across Gaza within a 30-minute span, according to Palestinian medical teams. The strikes targeted areas heavily populated with displaced civilians, intensifying what has already become a dire humanitarian crisis.

Strikes Hit Schools and Shelters

One of the deadliest hits occurred at the Musa bin Nusayr School in eastern Gaza City. Local activists reported that ten people died after Israeli warplanes struck classrooms sheltering hundreds of displaced families. In central Gaza, a strike on tents at an abandoned fuel station in Nuseirat killed 15 people.

Another 13 victims were reported in Deir al-Balah after a strike flattened the Abu Samra family’s three-story home. Rescue operations remain difficult due to damaged roads, limited equipment, and ongoing bombardments.

Shujaiya Bombardment Targets Tunnels

Israeli jets also launched ten strikes on Gaza City’s Shujaiya neighborhood. Local reports said the blasts shook the ground like an earthquake. These attacks likely aimed at Hamas’s tunnel network beneath civilian infrastructure, a known focus of Israel’s military strategy.

Global Pressure Mounts on Israel

The airstrikes follow Israel’s sweeping evacuation order and warning of an “unprecedented attack.” In response, leaders of the UK, France, and Canada issued a joint statement urging Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to halt the offensive. They warned of potential consequences if the assault continues.

Netanyahu, however, dismissed the pressure, calling the statement a “huge prize” for Hamas.

Limited Aid Amid Crisis

Israel recently agreed to allow a “basic amount” of food into Gaza, ending an 11-week blockade. But UN aid chief Tom Fletcher called the effort inadequate, saying the supplies are “a drop in the ocean” compared to what is urgently needed.

Ongoing Conflict

The conflict stems from the October 7, 2023 Hamas-led attacks on southern Israel, which killed about 1,200 people and led to 251 hostages. Israel’s ongoing military campaign has since killed over 53,000 Palestinians, according to Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry.
