PM Shehbaz Vows to Uplift Pakistan’s Global Standing After Military Triumph

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has pledged to strengthen Pakistan’s global standing, building on the national unity shown in response to Indian aggression. He made the remarks during the central ceremony of Youm-e-Tashakkur at the Pakistan Monument in Islamabad on Friday.

Tribute to Armed Forces

The premier paid high tribute to the Pakistan Armed Forces for their decisive response in Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos. He recalled that after India rejected Pakistan’s call for a transparent probe into the Pahalgam incident and targeted civilians, the nation responded on May 9 with a precise and effective counter-strike.

PAF’s Technological Edge

Shehbaz Sharif specifically praised the Pakistan Air Force for leveraging advanced technologies that played a key role in neutralizing India’s military threats. He said the professionalism of PAF pilots stunned adversaries and earned global admiration.

Global Recognition and Support

Addressing foreign diplomats and friendly countries, the prime minister thanked allies including China, Turkiye, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Iran, and Kuwait for supporting Pakistan’s narrative. He also commended US President Donald Trump for brokering peace and preventing a major regional war.

Call for Peaceful Coexistence

Despite the military success, Shehbaz reiterated Pakistan’s desire for lasting peace. He stressed

hat India and Pakistan must choose between being hostile rivals or peaceful neighbors. The premier said Pakistan has always preferred peace and dialogue over war, which only brings suffering on both sides.

Core Issues Must Be Resolved

Highlighting the heavy toll of terrorism on Pakistan, Shehbaz emphasized that true peace cannot be achieved without resolving core issues such as Jammu and Kashmir and water disputes. He called for comprehensive talks to settle differences and work together against terrorism.

Ceremony Highlights

The ceremony featured a solemn Fateha for martyrs, a fly-past by Pakistan Air Force jets, and patriotic performances by Syeda Hadia Hashmi, Shabnam Majeed, and Sahir Ali Bagga. Top civil and military officials, foreign diplomats, artists, and journalists attended the event.
