Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has said India made a serious miscalculation regarding Pakistan’s strength and determination to respond to its recent aggression.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Dar stated, “They all saw what happened to the Indian Air Force. When we responded three days later with drones and missiles, they realised the damage they had suffered.”
Pakistan’s Response Was Timely and Strong
Dar stressed that Pakistan’s retaliatory strikes proved the country’s defence strength and military parity with India. He said the precision and impact of Pakistan’s counter-attack shook Indian confidence and exposed their flawed assumptions.
“Our response was calculated, timely, and effective,” the foreign minister noted. “We showed restraint initially, but once we struck back, the world saw the results.”
He emphasized that Pakistan’s military action was measured but powerful. It delivered a strong message to India that any act of aggression would be met with force.
India Faced Real Consequences
Dar remarked that India’s leadership misread the situation and underestimated Pakistan’s readiness.
“I believe they recognised their miscalculation,” he said. “And it was clear to everyone that our defence capability was not only intact but equal to theirs.”
According to Dar, the Indian government was expecting a slow or limited response from Pakistan. However, the scale and accuracy of the counter-strike proved otherwise.
The use of drones and missiles in the retaliatory operation marked a significant show of strength, showcasing Pakistan’s technological and operational readiness.
US Played a Role in Ending Hostilities
Dar also revealed that the United States played a behind-the-scenes role in de-escalating the situation. According to him, Washington assured Islamabad that if Pakistan was willing to halt further military actions, India would follow suit.
“That’s exactly what happened,” Dar confirmed. “The assurance was clear and it helped bring an end to the confrontation.”
The foreign minister credited diplomatic backchannels for quickly preventing further escalation. He said Pakistan acted responsibly and was willing to stop once the threat had been addressed and national security was ensured.
Pakistan Remains Vigilant
Despite the temporary calm, Dar stated that Pakistan remains vigilant and will continue to defend its sovereignty.
He reiterated that Pakistan’s policy is based on peace, but any future aggression will receive a firm and immediate response.
“Our armed forces are fully capable,” he said. “And our government stands united with them in defending every inch of our land.”
The recent exchange marked one of the most serious military flare-ups in recent years between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. The swift retaliation and subsequent ceasefire showed how quickly tensions can rise — and how vital diplomacy remains in diffusing such situations.
