Pakistan Minister Cites ‘Social Media Evidence’

Pakistan’s Defence Minister faced sharp scrutiny after failing to provide concrete evidence to support the military’s claim of shooting down five Indian fighter jets — instead pointing to disputed jet downing footage circulating on social media. The incident has raised doubts internationally and fueled tensions during an already volatile period between India and Pakistan.

Minister’s Unconvincing Response

In a recent press briefing, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif was asked to present proof of the alleged Indian aircraft being shot down. Instead of providing satellite images, radar data, or wreckage, he simply stated, “It’s all over social media.”

Escalating Claims, No Proof

Earlier this week, Pakistan’s military announced it had downed five Indian jets — naming specific aircraft types including Rafales and Su-30s. However, the Indian Air Force has not confirmed any losses. While India acknowledged that drones were used in strikes, it denied that any of its fighter aircraft were brought down.

Public Skepticism Grows

The lack of official footage or technical evidence from Pakistan has stirred skepticism at home and abroad. Analysts argue that citing social media clips without verification does not meet the standard for a military claim of this scale.

India Calls Bluff

Indian officials labeled Pakistan’s announcement “fabricated propaganda.” They pointed out that none of the alleged crashes were observed or reported within Indian territory. India’s Ministry of Defence stated that the military remains fully operational and has not suffered any aircraft losses during the recent hostilities.

Media, Experts React

Regional experts warn that unverified claims can inflame tensions between two nuclear-armed neighbors. As the conflict escalates, international observers urge both sides to act with restraint and base communications on verifiable facts.
