Pakistan Condemns Israel, US Attacks on Iran as ‘Unjustified Aggression’

Ishaq Dar Slams Escalation in Middle East

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar on Monday strongly condemned what he described as “completely unjustified aggression” by Israel against Iran and the US attack on Iranian nuclear sites, calling it a dangerous escalation that violates international norms.

Addressing a press conference, Dar said Pakistan remains “profoundly concerned” over the latest developments in the Middle East. He criticized the Israeli and US actions as clear breaches of international law and the UN Charter, warning that such moves risk triggering wider regional instability.

“These actions, representing a highly dangerous escalation, have been in violation of the UN Charter and international law,” Dar said. “We urge all sides to exercise restraint and prioritize diplomacy over destruction.”

The statement comes amid rising global tensions following Israeli airstrikes and a reported US strike on Iranian nuclear facilities — incidents that have drawn sharp reactions from several nations and fueled fears of a broader conflict in the region.

Pakistan Reaffirms Support for Iran’s Right to Self-Defence

Reiterating Pakistan’s longstanding position, Ishaq Dar emphasized that Islamabad fully supports Iran’s legitimate right to self-defence under international law.

“Pakistan has consistently supported Iran’s legitimate right to self-defence as enshrined in the UN Charter,” he said, adding that the international community must not ignore the disproportionate use of force and the blatant disregard for sovereignty displayed in the recent strikes.

Dar also pointed out that Iran had made significant efforts in the past to resolve the nuclear issue through dialogue. “We appreciate the constructive and pragmatic approach that Iran adopted in finding a negotiated solution to the nuclear issue,” he said, indirectly referencing Iran’s previous engagement with global powers in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) framework.

Pakistan, he noted, has always encouraged dialogue and diplomacy as the only viable solution to disputes, especially in volatile regions like the Middle East.

Call for De-escalation and Respect for International Norms

Dar’s remarks signal Pakistan’s clear stance in urging de-escalation and respect for international law, as fears mount over a full-blown military confrontation between Iran and its adversaries.

He warned that unchecked aggression in the region could have devastating consequences for global peace and security, particularly for Muslim nations and the wider Islamic world.

“The use of force must never replace diplomacy. Pakistan calls upon the international community, especially the UN Security Council, to take immediate steps to prevent further escalation,” Dar urged.

He added that Islamabad remains committed to playing a constructive role in any regional or international efforts aimed at peaceful conflict resolution, stressing the need for stability, dialogue, and mutual respect among nations.

Pakistan’s foreign policy stance aligns with its broader commitment to multilateralism and regional peace — principles that are being tested in real time as the Middle East edges closer to another potentially catastrophic chapter.
