
Rescue teams in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recovered the 12th body from flash floods in the Swat River, as torrential rains continue to wreak havoc across the region. The body of a child swept away on Friday was found in Charsadda on Sunday, according to Rescue 1122 officials.
Heavy Toll in Northern KP
So far, 19 people have lost their lives and six others have been injured due to flash floods and landslides triggered by intense rainfall, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) reported. Seventeen people were initially reported missing when the floods hit Swat and Malakand. Of these, four were rescued and 12 bodies have now been recovered. Search efforts continue for one person still missing.
In another incident, rescue workers found the body of a young man in Charsadda who had drowned in Lower Dir two days earlier. His body was recovered after a continuous two-day search operation.

Indus River Claims Two Lives
In KP’s Hazara division, two youths drowned in the Indus River in Balyani Akazai. One of them jumped in to cool off, and the other tried to rescue him. Both were swept away by the current. A third youth attempted a rescue but narrowly escaped. Locals are assisting with the search for the missing bodies.
Fresh Weather Alerts Issued
PDMA has warned of more heavy rainfall over the next 24 to 48 hours across several KP districts including Swat, Chitral, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Peshawar, Bannu, and Waziristan. Rising water levels are expected in the Swat and Panjkora rivers. Low-level flooding is also likely in the Kabul River.
Authorities have been instructed to keep rescue teams alert, ensure road safety, and maintain alternate traffic routes. PDMA has also called for clearing drainage systems to prevent urban flooding.
Citizens are advised to stay indoors during storms and farmers are urged to secure crops and livestock. PDMA’s emergency hotline 1700 remains operational for reporting incidents.
