
Amid escalating US-Iran tensions, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif spoke with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to express Pakistan’s strong condemnation of recent US airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities. The call underlined Pakistan’s solidarity with Iran and called for urgent diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the growing conflict.
Pakistan Condemns Attacks on Protected Sites
During the call, Shehbaz Sharif extended heartfelt condolences over the loss of life and wished a speedy recovery for the injured. He expressed grave concern that the US targeted facilities under the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) safeguards. He called the attacks a clear breach of international law and a violation of the IAEA Statute.
Support for Iran’s Right to Self-Defence
The Prime Minister reaffirmed Iran’s legitimate right to self-defence under Article 51 of the UN Charter. However, he stressed that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only sustainable path to peace. He urged all parties to prioritize collective efforts aimed at de-escalation and regional stability.

Pakistan Offers Constructive Role
Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s readiness to contribute constructively to any effort promoting peace. Iran Appreciates Pakistan’s Support
President Pezeshkian expressed gratitude to Pakistan for its timely and unwavering support. He thanked the Pakistani government, people, and military leadership for standing beside Iran in this critical hour. The Iranian President appreciated Pakistan’s clear and principled position on the issue.
Call for Muslim Unity
Both leaders emphasized the urgent need for unity within the Muslim world. They agreed that a collective response and close coordination are essential during this moment of crisis. They also resolved to maintain continuous communication to coordinate further actions.
The conversation highlighted shared concerns about rising instability and underscored the importance of regional cooperation to avoid further escalation.
