Iran-Israel Missile Clash Escalates After US Bombing of Nuclear Sites

Missile retaliation between Iran and Israel intensified the growing regional crisis after the US bombed key Iranian nuclear facilities. On Sunday, Iran fired two volleys of 27 missiles each at Israel, targeting military and infrastructure sites in what it called a direct response to US aggression.

Missiles Rain Down on Israeli Cities

Air raid sirens blared across Israel as explosions lit up skies over Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa, and parts of northern and central Israel. Israel’s emergency services confirmed at least 20 people were injured. Millions of residents rushed into bomb shelters as missile defense systems attempted to intercept the incoming attacks.

Key Sites Targeted

Iran’s state media reported that the missiles struck Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv, research centers, and command bases. The coordinated barrages hit 10 separate sites, with significant damage reported especially around Tel Aviv and the port city of Haifa. Shrapnel from explosions affected large areas.

Rapid-Fire Strikes Break Previous Patterns

Al Jazeera’s Nour Odeh, reporting from Amman, noted that the timing of the missile volleys marked a shift in Iran’s strategy. “This is the first time we’ve seen two waves of missiles launched within such a short span — less than 30 minutes apart,” she said. “Typically, there are hours between such attacks.”

US Strike Ignites Broader Conflict

The missile exchange followed the United States’ bombing of Iran’s nuclear facilities, including Fordow, Isfahan, and Natanz. The US claimed the strikes were aimed at dismantling Iran’s nuclear capabilities. Tehran, in turn, blamed both Washington and Tel Aviv for escalating the conflict and vowed retaliation.

Wider Impact Across the Region

The strikes also affected Israeli-occupied areas in the Golan Heights and the Upper Galilee region. Reports suggest widespread structural damage and military disruptions. The risk of further retaliation remains high as both sides show no sign of backing down.

Tensions now threaten to spiral beyond the region, with global powers urging restraint to prevent full-scale war.
