Share the latest news updates

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a Karachi weather alert, forecasting rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds for Monday and Tuesday. The advisory warns of changing weather conditions in Karachi and several districts of Sindh due to an approaching westerly weather system and moisture-laden winds.

Thunderstorms Expected in Karachi

Karachi may experience rain with thunder starting Monday night, particularly in suburban and peripheral areas. Gusty winds are also likely to accompany the showers, especially on Tuesday. While rainfall brings relief from the heat, the city is expected to remain hot and humid overall, with maximum temperatures ranging between 36°C and 38°C. Humidity levels may peak at 80% in the morning and drop to around 55% by evening.

Rainfall Across Sindh

The PMD expects light to moderate showers across various districts of Sindh under the influence of the incoming system. Areas likely to receive rain include Sukkur, Ghotki, Jacobabad, Khairpur, Dadu, Shikarpur, Qambar Shahdadkot, and Shaheed Benazirabad.

Between June 16 and 17, the rain belt will likely expand to Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Matiari, Hyderabad, Thatta, Sujawal, and Badin. Thunderstorms may hit some of these regions as well.

Weather Outlook for Punjab and Kashmir

While upper Sindh anticipates rain, most of Punjab will stay hot and dry. However, isolated areas like Murree, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Multan could witness dust storms and scattered showers. Kashmir is also on alert for rain and hail.

Over the past 24 hours, Gujrat received the highest recorded rainfall in Punjab at 11.6 mm. Despite scattered showers, temperatures remain high across the region. Bahawalnagar reported an intense 49°C, while Murree stayed cool at 17°C.

The PMD advises residents and travelers to stay cautious as the shifting weather may disrupt daily activities and increase the risk of localized flooding or wind damage.
