PM Shehbaz, UAE President Reaffirm Strategic Ties Amid Challenges

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met in Abu Dhabi on June 12 to strengthen Pakistan-UAE relations and address pressing regional and global issues. The leaders praised the enduring partnership built on trust, shared values, and mutual interests.

Focus on Bilateral and Regional Cooperation

During the meeting, both leaders expressed satisfaction over the growing momentum in bilateral relations. They emphasized the need to deepen collaboration across key sectors such as trade, investment, and energy. They also discussed ongoing regional developments and agreed to enhance coordination on matters impacting peace and stability in South Asia and the Middle East.

Appreciation for UAE’s Diplomatic Role

PM Shehbaz thanked the UAE leadership for its constructive diplomacy in helping reduce tensions between Pakistan and India. He commended the Emirates for promoting regional peace and dialogue through consistent engagement.

Several senior officials accompanied PM Shehbaz during the visit, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Interior Minister Mohsin Raza Naqvi, Information Minister Ataullah Tarar, and Special Assistant Syed Tariq Fatemi.

Following the meeting, PM Shehbaz posted on X (formerly Twitter), expressing delight over the engagement. He described Sheikh Mohamed as a “dear brother” and acknowledged the UAE’s “vital role” in easing regional tensions. He also highlighted the strengthening trade and investment ties and looked forward to welcoming the UAE President to Pakistan soon.

This high-level interaction underscored the strategic depth of Pakistan-UAE ties and signaled renewed commitment to cooperation during a time of regional uncertainty.
