Palestinian resistance group Hamas has sharply condemned Israel’s large-scale airstrikes on Iran, calling them “a brutal aggression” and a direct threat to the stability of the Middle East. The group issued a strongly worded statement via Telegram shortly after Israel confirmed the launch of Operation Rising Lion, which targeted Iranian nuclear and military sites in Tehran.
“This aggression constitutes a dangerous escalation that threatens to destabilise the region,” Hamas said, accusing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government of pushing the region into open confrontations.
According to the statement, the attack is not only a violation of Iranian sovereignty but also a “flagrant breach of international norms and conventions.” Hamas believes the airstrikes reflect Tel Aviv’s long-standing goal of igniting regional chaos to consolidate its dominance in the Middle East.

Calls for Global Action to “Deter” Israel
Hamas did not stop at condemnation. It went further by calling on the international community, Arab nations, and Muslim-majority countries to take “a unified stance to deter” Israel. The group urged the United Nations, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and regional powers to intervene diplomatically and politically to halt what it calls “Israeli crimes.”
“This warlike behavior should not go unanswered,” the group said, warning that the continuation of Israeli strikes without global intervention could lead to a catastrophic regional war.
By positioning itself alongside Iran, Hamas seeks to rally support for a broader anti-Israel coalition, especially as both nations face military and political pressure. The statement emphasized that Israel poses “an existential threat to the entire region,” a phrase meant to resonate across Arab capitals and within influential international bodies.
Solidarity with Iran Amid Shared Struggles
Hamas also expressed full solidarity with the Islamic Republic of Iran, offering its “deepest condolences” to the Iranian government and people. The group acknowledged the deaths of several senior commanders and nuclear scientists, calling them “martyrs of resistance.”
In a symbolic move, Hamas framed the Iranian losses as a shared sacrifice in the struggle against Israeli aggression. This rare public alignment signals deepening ties between Tehran and Gaza’s ruling authority, despite their differences in religious and political ideologies.
The statement reiterated that “this brutal aggression by Israel not only targets Iran but endangers every free nation in the region.”
The expression of unity follows months of cross-border cooperation and intelligence sharing between Iranian operatives and Hamas fighters in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria. Some regional analysts believe that the recent Israeli strike may further accelerate military coordination among Iran-backed groups across the Middle East.
Hamas’s statement underlines a growing regional realignment, with Iran, Syria, Hezbollah, and Hamas increasingly coordinating their messaging and strategy against Israel. As tensions surge following the Israeli operation, observers fear the possibility of simultaneous flashpoints across Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq.
