
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir performed Umrah diplomacy during an official visit to Saudi Arabia on Thursday night. Their spiritual gesture came as a symbolic expression of gratitude for Pakistan’s recent economic and public welfare advancements.
Holy Kaaba Opened for Pakistani Delegation
The Saudi authorities specially opened the door of the Holy Kaaba for the visiting delegation. The prime minister, army chief, and accompanying officials offered Nawafil and prayers inside the sacred site. They thanked Allah for the success of “Bunyan-um-Marsoos” and Pakistan’s improving economic indicators.
They also offered heartfelt prayers for the oppressed Muslims in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and Palestine, reaffirming Pakistan’s solidarity with Muslim communities facing hardship.

High-Level Delegation Accompanies PM
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, and Information Minister Attaullah Tarar were among the top officials accompanying PM Shehbaz. The visit was made on the special invitation of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Focus on Regional Cooperation
The two-day visit includes a high-level meeting with the Saudi crown prince, who also serves as the prime minister of the kingdom. According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, talks will center on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, regional peace, and the welfare of the Muslim Ummah.
The prime minister is also expected to thank the Saudi leadership for playing a constructive role in defusing recent tensions between Pakistan and India.
Strengthening Strategic Ties
The visit reflects the deep-rooted and strategic relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Both nations share religious, historical, and economic bonds. This diplomatic engagement aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and Pakistan’s long-term development goals.
As Hajj rituals and Eid ul Adha celebrations continue in the kingdom, the visit highlights Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to deepen regional ties through both diplomacy and faith.
