Pakistan Warns of River Control if India Violates Indus Treaty

Pakistan will take control of rivers flowing from Kashmir if India breaches the Indus Waters Treaty, warned DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry during an interview with Al Jazeera TV. He stated that any violation of this decades-old agreement would lead to decisive and firm action by Pakistan.

Clear Warning Over Water Rights

The ISPR chief said Pakistan’s stance on the Indus Waters Treaty is clear. If India oversteps its limits, Pakistan is ready to assert control over all six rivers flowing from Kashmir. The World Bank originally allocated three rivers to each country under the treaty. Pakistan considers it a binding international agreement.

Military Readiness and Response

Highlighting Pakistan’s military preparedness, Gen Chaudhry recalled the country’s recent defensive actions against Indian aggression. “India will never forget our response,” he said. He described the military strategy as a model for future studies and claimed the armed forces successfully blocked India’s objectives.

He noted that the military’s decisive actions and visible superiority have further strengthened public confidence. “Our military is a symbol of pride for the nation,” he said.

Rejecting Indian Media Claims

The ISPR chief dismissed Indian media narratives as propaganda. He stated that during the recent border conflict, Indian forces were seen waving white flags at multiple points along the Line of Control.

Chaudhry said Pakistan did not hide its response. “We chose 26 targets and struck each one, as announced—openly and during the day.”

India’s Internal Crisis and Propaganda

He also linked India’s aggression to its internal instability. He claimed that this domestic oppression gives rise to radical elements, which New Delhi tries to deflect by blaming Pakistan.
