Pakistan Blames India for Deadly School Bus Bombing in Balochistan

Share the latest news updates

A suspected suicide bombing on a school bus in Balochistan’s Khuzdar city has killed three children and two adults, sparking outrage and intensifying tensions between Pakistan and India. The Khuzdar school bombing, which occurred on Wednesday morning, has led Pakistan to accuse India of orchestrating the deadly attack.

Deadly Attack Targets Schoolchildren

The bus was heading to an army public school when a vehicle rammed into it and exploded. Local officials confirmed the deaths of three children—12-year-olds Hifsa Kausar and Sania Somroo, and 16-year-old Esha Saleem—along with the driver and a security guard. Several other children sustained critical injuries.

Police believe it was a suicide bombing, though no group has claimed responsibility yet.

Pakistan Points Finger at India

Pakistan’s military swiftly blamed India, accusing it of using terror proxies to attack civilian targets. A military statement said India was employing such groups as “state tools” to destabilize Pakistan and harm innocent civilians.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif backed the military’s claims. He called the attack “clear evidence” of India’s hostility, citing the targeting of schoolchildren as a reflection of “Indian state-sponsored terrorism.”

India Denies Involvement

India’s foreign ministry rejected the accusations, calling them “baseless.” The denial comes as relations between the nuclear-armed neighbors remain highly volatile.

Just weeks earlier, the two countries exchanged drone and missile strikes after a deadly militant attack in Indian-administered Kashmir killed 26 people. That incident nearly led to war before a ceasefire was declared on May 10.

Insurgency and Rising Violence

Pakistan has seen a surge in militant attacks, especially in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Authorities have blamed India for backing groups like the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), which has been linked to bombings and other violent actions.

Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind called the bus bombing the “hideous face” of India’s alleged terrorism. The attack drew grim comparisons to the 2014 Peshawar school massacre, where over 130 children were killed.
