Doctors Forced to Prioritize Patients Amid Israeli Attacks and Blockade

Medical staff at Nasser Hospital face a dire situation as Israeli attacks and a severe blockade strain resources. Palestinian physician Ahmed al-Farra described the constant challenge of deciding which patients to treat first.

“We have to make heartbreaking decisions every day,” al-Farra said. “My doctor in the pediatric ICU asked me what to do in this situation. I told her, please try to prioritize those with the best chance of survival.”

He added, “If someone can survive, we try to help them. For others, we simply can’t do anything.” The hospital struggles with limited supplies, making it impossible to treat every patient adequately.

Al-Farra strongly condemned the use of hunger as a weapon against Palestinians. “The blockade has led to malnutrition among many, especially children. This is the worst weapon being used.”

He explained that malnutrition causes the body’s systems to shut down. “Children suffering from hunger will be unable to survive without urgent aid.”

Nasser Hospital serves a large population, and the staff work under extreme pressure. The shortage of medicines, food, and medical equipment forces them to make life-and-death decisions daily.

The ongoing blockade has cut off critical supplies to Gaza. Medical teams report a sharp rise in cases of malnutrition, dehydration, and other health complications.

Health workers say that the lack of resources affects not only the sick but also those injured in ongoing conflicts. Many victims of Israeli attacks cannot receive proper care due to shortages.

International organizations have warned about the worsening humanitarian crisis. The United Nations and other groups urge immediate action to allow aid into Gaza.

Doctors at Nasser Hospital call for urgent international support. “We need medicines, food, water, and equipment now,” said al-Farra. “Without help, many more lives will be lost.”

Despite the risks, hospital staff remain committed to saving as many lives as possible. “We do everything we can with what little we have,” al-Farra noted.

The situation highlights the devastating impact of the conflict on Gaza’s health system. The ongoing violence and blockade create a humanitarian emergency.

Al-Farra’s testimony reflects the grim reality faced by medical workers. They must choose which patients to save, knowing some may not survive due to lack of resources.

As the conflict continues, the need for medical aid grows more urgent. Doctors urge the international community to break the blockade and allow life-saving supplies to reach Gaza.

“The health of Gaza’s people is at risk,” al-Farra warned. “If the blockade continues, the crisis will only get worse.”

The hospital remains a critical lifeline for many Palestinians. But without external support, the staff’s ability to provide care will remain limited.

Al-Farra’s words call attention to the human cost of the conflict. Medical workers, caught in the crossfire, face impossible choices every day.

They hope their message will inspire action. “We must end this suffering,” he said. “Every life matters.”

The situation at Nasser Hospital is a powerful reminder of the urgent need for peace and humanitarian relief in Gaza.
