The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) will remain closed on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, to observe Youm-e-Takbeer — the day Pakistan became a nuclear power. The government has declared it a public holiday nationwide.

Official Market Closure Announced

The PSX issued an official notification on Monday confirming that trading activities will be suspended for the day. The announcement stated: “Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited will remain closed on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, being a public holiday declared by the Government of Pakistan on the occasion of Youm-e-Takbeer.”

What Is Youm-e-Takbeer?

Youm-e-Takbeer commemorates Pakistan’s nuclear tests conducted on May 28, 1998, in the Chaghi hills of Balochistan. These tests established Pakistan as the world’s seventh nuclear-armed state and the first Muslim-majority nation with nuclear capability.
