GTA 4 Remaster Rumored to Launch Before GTA 6

Rockstar Games may be gearing up for a surprise return to Liberty City with a GTA 4 Remaster, possibly launching before GTA 6. According to trusted GTA insider Tez2, a modern port of the 2008 classic could arrive by late 2025.
Insider Hints at Liberty City Comeback
Tez2 recently shared on GTA forums that someone at Rockstar hinted at the GTA 4 remaster being in development. The leak suggested the game could be released before the end of 2025. Speculation intensified when Rockstar took down the popular Liberty City Preservation Project mod, possibly clearing the way for an official remaster.
Which Platforms Could Get the Remaster?
The rumored GTA 4 Remaster is expected to target modern consoles such as PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. While there’s no confirmation yet, some fans wonder if the Nintendo Switch 2 might also be considered. Tez2 also mentioned that a Max Payne 3 port could follow the GTA 4 release, depending on Rockstar’s schedule.

A Smart Move Ahead of GTA 6
With GTA 6 delayed to 2026, revisiting Niko Bellic’s story could help bridge the gap and reignite interest in the franchise. Liberty City, the setting for GTA 4, also ties directly to GTA 6, as its new protagonist Lucia hails from there. A remaster could offer a strategic narrative link between both games.
More Rockstar Revivals on the Horizon
In addition to GTA 4, Rockstar is also working with Remedy on remakes of Max Payne 1 and 2.
