In a deadly escalation between nuclear-armed rivals, India’s unprovoked strikes on May 6 and 7 killed 51 Pakistanis, including 11 armed forces personnel and 40 civilians, according to a statement released Monday by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The military’s media wing called the attacks “barbaric” and “dastardly,” confirming that Indian forces specifically targeted innocent civilians, including women, children, and the elderly.

The strikes hit multiple areas during the night, leading to widespread destruction and panic. Among the martyred civilians were 7 women and 15 children, while 121 people were injured, including 10 women and 27 children.

“These strikes were unprovoked and reprehensible,” the ISPR said. “They caused unimaginable human suffering and aimed to terrorize the civilian population.”

Pakistan Responds with Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos

In a swift and powerful response, Pakistan launched Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos, under the campaign Marka-e-Haq. The military said its strikes were “precise, proportionate, and retributive.”

While defending the motherland, 11 valiant members of the Pakistan armed forces were martyred, and 78 were wounded. The ISPR praised their bravery and sacrifice, calling them symbols of courage, devotion, and unwavering patriotism.

Nation Pays Tribute

The military said that both the people of Pakistan and its armed forces pay solemn tribute to the martyrs and extend prayers for the quick recovery of the wounded.

“Our nation stands united in the face of such aggression,” ISPR stated. “Let there be no doubt—any future challenge to Pakistan’s sovereignty will be met with a full-spectrum and decisive response, Inshallah.”

India Justifies Strikes, Pakistan Rejects Claims

Indian officials claimed their military action targeted “terrorist camps” in response to the recent Pahalgam attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Pakistan firmly rejected these claims, calling them baseless propaganda to justify killing innocent lives.

Pakistan’s counterstrikes hit several Indian military installations across multiple regions. The military described its operations as strategic, measured, and necessary.

Ceasefire After 87 Hours of Conflict

After more than 87 hours of continuous military confrontation, both sides agreed to a ceasefire on May 10. The truce was brokered by the United States, bringing temporary calm to the region after days of intense hostilities.

The situation has once again exposed the fragile peace in South Asia. With civilians bearing the brunt of state-sponsored violence, the world watches closely as both nations navigate the aftermath of one of the most serious flare-ups in recent years.

For now, Pakistan mourns its losses but stands ready, vigilant, and determined.
