Following the tense military standoff, Operation Bunyan-al-Marsous has positioned Pakistan to push for diplomatic solutions to long-standing disputes with India, including Kashmir and the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT). Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the need for dialogue and peace in a televised address on Saturday.
PM Calls for Dialogue
Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan agreed to the ceasefire in the interest of regional stability and the welfare of millions. He expressed hope that all unresolved issues, including Kashmir and water sharing, would now be resolved through negotiations, not conflict.
Defending Sovereignty
The prime minister hailed the armed forces for a swift and effective response, calling it a historic military chapter. He described India’s actions as “naked aggression,” triggered by the Pahalgam incident, and condemned the targeting of civilians and mosques through drones and missiles. Pakistan, he said, responded in a language India could understand.

Global Support Recognized
Sharif expressed gratitude to US President Donald Trump for brokering the ceasefire, and thanked allies including China, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Qatar, UAE, and the UK for their diplomatic support. He praised President Xi Jinping and other regional leaders for standing by Pakistan.
Political Briefings and Unity
Later, Sharif met President Asif Ali Zardari and top political leaders to brief them on the success of Operation Bunyan-al-Marsous. President Zardari praised the military’s professionalism and reaffirmed the nation’s commitment to sovereignty, unity, and peace.
