Indian Shelling Kills 13 in AJK as Tensions Peak

Share the latest news updates

Amid rising India-Pakistan tensions, Indian shelling in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) killed at least 13 civilians and injured over 50 others in a 12-hour span. Emergency response teams have been deployed to assist those affected.

Unprovoked Attacks Amid Crisis

The fresh shelling comes as both nuclear-armed neighbors teeter on the edge of full-scale war. Since May 7, India has carried out missile and drone strikes across Pakistan. The latest attack in AJK has deepened fears of wider conflict.

Pakistan’s Military Response Intensifies

In response to Indian aggression, Pakistan launched Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos early Saturday. Security sources confirmed that the operation targeted Indian bases involved in launching attacks on Pakistani civilians and places of worship. Strategic locations were struck simultaneously.

As part of the operation, Pakistan fired the Al-Fatah missile, named in memory of the children killed during recent Indian strikes. The military reiterated that Pakistan would never forget their sacrifice.

Indian Bases Take Damage

Indian officials admitted Pakistan’s strikes damaged equipment and injured personnel at five major airbases: Udhampur, Pathankot, Adampur, Bhuj, and Bathinda. India’s Air Force and Army officers acknowledged the scale of the attacks but called for de-escalation—conditional on Pakistani restraint.

Wider Escalation Since Pahalgam Attack

Tensions soared after the April 22 Pahalgam attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) that killed 26 people. India blamed Pakistan without presenting evidence. Islamabad firmly denied the accusations.

Following the incident, India suspended Pakistani visas, closed the Wagah border, and revoked the Indus Waters Treaty. Pakistan condemned these steps as hostile acts and sealed the border from its side.

Air Superiority Challenged

During initial retaliation, Pakistan claimed to have shot down five Indian fighter jets, including four Rafales. The loss of Rafale aircraft—later confirmed by French intelligence—challenged India’s perceived air dominance.

As the region reels from the violence, global calls for peace continue to grow louder.
