Share the latest news updates

Pakistan’s military has successfully shot down 25 Israeli-made drones launched by India in a fresh wave of attacks. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the drones, identified as Harop models, were neutralised across multiple locations overnight. The military described India’s actions as provocative and a desperate attempt following its battlefield setbacks.

Wave of Drone Attacks

On Thursday, ISPR Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry confirmed that 12 of the 25 drones were taken down overnight. These were intercepted in Punjab’s Lahore, Attock, Chakwal, Rawalpindi, Bahawalpur, and Gujranwala, as well as in Sindh’s Sukkur (Miano), Umerkot (Chhor), and near Karachi. However, one drone managed to partially strike a military target near Lahore, injuring four personnel and damaging equipment.

Civilian Impact and Military Response

The same incident resulted in one civilian martyrdom and another injury in Miano. The military spokesperson stated that the Pakistani forces used both “soft-kill” and “hard-kill” countermeasures, including electronic and kinetic weapons, to bring down the drones.

India’s Stated Objective

India’s defence ministry confirmed air strikes inside Pakistan earlier in the day. Indian media outlet ANI reported that the drones, developed by Israel, were used to target Pakistan’s air defence systems. These Harop drones are known for their radar-homing capabilities and high-explosive warheads.

Military Escalation Along LoC

Fighting along the Line of Control has intensified in recent days, with both sides trading heavy fire. Pakistan claims India’s recent attacks have deliberately targeted civilian areas, killing 31 people on May 7, including women and children.

Pakistan’s military remains on high alert, ready to respond to ongoing drone intrusions and further escalations.
