Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has postponed all scheduled exams for Wednesday due to rising security concerns amid regional conflict tensions. The university took the decision in light of the developing situation between Pakistan and India, where cross-border hostilities have intensified over the past 24 hours.
AIOU spokesperson confirmed that the postponed exams will now be held on June 16, 2025. The rescheduling applies to all examination centers across Pakistan. “In view of the current circumstances and for the safety of students and staff, the university has decided to defer today’s exams nationwide,” the spokesperson stated.
The decision follows missile strikes and retaliatory military actions that have disrupted transport and created unrest in several cities. Many students and faculty expressed concern over traveling during such a volatile situation.
Security agencies had advised educational institutions in sensitive areas to remain vigilant. In response, AIOU became one of the first public universities to officially reschedule exams amid the conflict.

Students can download the updated date sheet from the university’s official website. AIOU has urged examinees to remain in contact through SMS and the student portal for any further changes.
This postponement comes as thousands of students were preparing to appear in exams for various academic programs. Educational circles have welcomed the university’s decision, calling it a responsible move in uncertain times.
The university has assured students that all academic progress will continue as planned once stability returns. AIOU remains in close coordination with local authorities and will announce any further updates if needed.
As tensions escalate across the region, academic institutions continue to monitor the situation closely while prioritizing student safety above all.
