India Blocks Pakistani Celebrities, Responds with Memes and Mockery

Share the latest news updates

In a fresh turn of events in the ongoing Indo-Pak digital tug-of-war, several popular Pakistani celebrities have discovered that their Instagram profiles are now blocked in India. The sudden move, coming days after the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir — which India blamed on Pakistan and Pakistan denied — signals a broader crackdown on Pakistani digital content.

Instagram Block: “User Unavailable in India”

When Indian users attempt to access these blocked profiles, a message appears:
“Your user is unavailable in India. Because of a legal request, we have to restrict access to your user.”

Screenshots of the ban notification — especially on actress Hania Aamir’s profile — went viral across platforms, sparking reactions from multiple Pakistani celebrities.

Celebs Clap Back with Wit and Sarcasm

Actress Mansha Pasha was quick to respond, sharing the screenshot on her story with a punchy caption:
“Well, that took like a millisecond. Oh, well!”

Ushna Shah jokingly blamed her love for Indo-Pak memes for the block, while comedian Ali Gul Pir offered his fans a workaround:
“Sorry to Indian followers. Use a VPN if needed. I still love you.”

Arslan Naseer, known for his humorous takes, tagged Indian PM Modi in a meme-worthy story:
“Modi bro you banned me in India? What’s next? Will you complain to my Ammi?”
He even teased Fawad Khan, mock-blaming him for the situation:
“You’re like that squirrel from Ice Age.”

Not Everyone’s Blocked

Surprisingly, not all celebrities faced the digital axe. Big names like Fawad Khan, Mawra Hocane, Atif Aslam, and Pasoori stars Ali Sethi and Shae Gill remain visible to Indian users. Their accounts, for now, have dodged the block wave.

In contrast, profiles of Mahira Khan, Ali Zafar, and Hania Aamir remain inaccessible in India.

Channels Also Targeted

The censorship didn’t stop with individuals. Official Instagram pages of Pakistani entertainment giants like HUM TV, ARY Digital, and Geo Entertainment are now also restricted. Visitors from India are met with a message citing national security or public order concerns.

Earlier this month, India officially banned 16 Pakistani YouTube channels, including those of major outlets like Dawn, Samaa, and even Shoaib Akhtar’s popular cricket content. The Pakistani government’s official X account has also been blocked.

Among the most affected is comedian Shehzad Ghias, whose podcast The Pakistan Experience now joins the long list of banned voices.

“Ban Now, Explain Never”

While the Indian government hasn’t issued an official statement regarding the celebrity or entertainment channel bans, the action speaks volumes. The unofficial policy seems clear: restrict first, justify never.

Yet, Pakistani celebs aren’t backing down. With VPNs, loyal fans, and an unshaken sense of humour, they’re responding with grace — and memes.

As actor Yasir Hussain aptly put it:
“You don’t argue with embarrassed cats. You ignore them.”
