Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry made the announcement during a press conference in Islamabad on Friday.
Deportation Underway in Second Phase
Talal Chaudhry confirmed that the government is actively carrying out deportations under the second phase of the “One Document Regime.” This initiative requires all foreign nationals, including Afghan citizens, to possess valid legal documents to stay in Pakistan.
He stated that the government has already deported more than 907,000 Afghan nationals since the process began. These individuals are being repatriated through designated transit points equipped with boarding facilities, medical assistance, and security arrangements.
Coordination With Afghan Government
The Minister highlighted that Pakistan is working closely with the Afghan government to ensure a smooth and safe return of Afghan nationals. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is leading these efforts to maintain diplomatic cooperation and streamline the extradition process.
According to Talal Chaudhry, all basic needs of the returning individuals are being addressed at transit points to uphold humanitarian standards.

Warning for Pakistani Citizens
In a strong message to the public, the Minister of State warned Pakistani citizens against aiding undocumented individuals.
Talal Chaudhry emphasized that the responsibility lies not only with the state but also with its citizens to ensure that no illegal activity is facilitated.
Visas Issued to Afghan Nationals
Despite the crackdown on illegal immigration, Chaudhry highlighted that Pakistan has issued over one million visas to Afghan nationals in the past two years. These visas fall under sixteen different categories, reflecting the country’s ongoing effort to support legal and regulated migration.
This statistic, he said, shows Pakistan’s openness to legal processes while drawing a clear line against undocumented stay.
Policy Enforcement Continues
The government’s actions come amid rising national security concerns and a push to regulate border management. Authorities remain firm that undocumented foreign nationals must return home unless they obtain the appropriate legal documentation.
By reiterating its zero-tolerance policy, the Interior Ministry has sent a clear signal that illegal stay will no longer be overlooked. Deportation operations will continue with increased efficiency, and legal action will be taken against violators.
The crackdown reflects Pakistan’s broader immigration reforms aimed at protecting national interests while upholding international diplomatic protocols.
